A Perfect God

We need a God who is perfect. He is perfect. He is perfect morally. He is the perfect Creator. He is perfect in His knowledge. He is perfect in His power. He is the perfect Communicator. He is the perfect Judge. He is perfect in His mercy. He is perfect in His Love. His Word is perfect. He is perfect in what He says. He is perfect in what He does not say. His plans are perfect. His will is perfect. His timing is perfect. His guidance is perfect. His dominion is perfect. His keeping us is perfect.

I greatly enjoy the Biblical phrase as many as. It is an exact and perfect number. We don*t know the number but God does. Everywhere the phrase appears in the Bible speaks of one certain group of people or another. My favorite uses of the phrase are about those who are saved.

John 1:12: But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Acts 2:39: For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

John 17:2: As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Acts 13:48: And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.

Galatians 3:27: For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Romans 8:14: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Mark 6:56: And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.

Revelation 3:19: as many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

When we do His will, even what we do is perfect.

Romans 12:1-2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Hebrews 13:20-21: Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, 21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Most impressive of all is that our perfect God will one day make us perfect.

Jude 1:24-25: Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, 25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
